UCLA Center for East-West Medicine & CHYP

A Groundbreaking Partnership to Empower Youth in Pain

Our own Dr. Lonnie Zeltzer will be a keynote speaker at this fantastic UCLA event! Scroll down for more info.

We are delighted to invite you to our inaugural UCLA East-West Pediatrics Conference, a free event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the UCLA Tamkin Auditorium, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (757 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90095). This conference explores non-pharmacological approaches to whole-child mental health and is open to healthcare providers, families, parents, and all caregivers.

Our conference will focus on a wide array of evidence-based complementary therapies shown to improve pediatric mental health and well-being. It will also offer hands-on workshops and family-based interventions in Qigong, acupressure, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine nutrition, dance therapy, and practical parenting tips for supporting a child through mental or physical pain.

Additionally, our conference will explore how a simpler, less overscheduled lifestyle—one that prioritizes play—can nurture our children’s spirits and support their holistic development. Drawing inspiration from the time-honored principles of Chinese medicine and insights from Dr. Michael Yogman’s 2018 AAP article, “The Power of Play: A Pediatric Role in Enhancing Development in Young Children,” our discussions will bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary pediatric practices.
