Tracing the Hand: A Relaxation Practice

When you’re feeling frightened, in pain, anxious, or unable to sleep, this calming practice can help. It’s an excellent technique for children and adults to feel more centered and at ease.

How to Practice

Start by spreading out your left hand. Use the index finger of your right hand to gently trace the outline of each finger, starting from the base of the thumb and moving towards the wrist. As you trace each finger, breathe slowly as you move up and breathe out as you move down. Repeat this for all five fingers, then switch to the right hand, using the left index finger to trace.
