The Gut Microbiome

  • Price: FREE

Join CHYP and Dr. Emeran Mayer, a UCLA, award-winning national expert on brain-gut interactions and the gut microbiome, to learn about how the gut microbiome is essential for our physical and emotional well-being. How do we first get our microbiome, and are there pre- and post-birth factors that can influence the development of a healthy microbiome? Find out how bacteria can impact our emotions and vice versa and may play a role in chronic pain. We’ll discuss how to test the health of our gut microbiome and the effects of diet, antibiotics, and pre/probiotics. Finally, learn how we develop and maintain a healthy gut microbiome.

Emeran A Mayer is a Gastroenterologist, Neuroscientist, and Distinguished Research Professor at the UCLA Department of Medicine, the Executive Director of the G. Oppenheimer Center for Neurobiology of Stress and Resilience, and the Founding Director of the Goodman Luskin Microbiome Center at UCLA. He is a pioneer in bidirectional communication within the brain-gut microbiome system with wide-ranging applications in intestinal and brain disorders. He has published 415 scientific papers and co-edited 3 books. He has a PBS documentary about the mind-gut immune connection.
